Stephen Sewall (academic)
Stephen Sewall (March 24, 1734 – July 23, 1804) was an American professor on Hebrew language in Harvard University, an expert in Oriental languages, and was considered one of the best scholars of his generation.
In 1761, shortly after graduating from Harvard University, he was hired by his ''alma mater'' to serve as Judah Monis's replacement as a lecturer in Hebrew. He was a charter member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (1780).〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=https://www.amacad.org/content/about/about.aspx?d=23 )〕 He was born in York, Maine and died in Boston, Massachusetts.
